Digital Textile Fabric Printing

The world of fabrics always needs something innovative to keep it alive and exciting. With the increase in technology, the market always demands something new frequently. One of the prominent changes that consumers expect is customization and digitization.

Digital textile printing is a revolutionized change in the textile industry. Increased technology and advanced printers are offering huge benefits to the demanding market. A digital printed fabric manufacturer is taking abundant benefits from the latest technology, the fast production, and the possibility of printing complex designs and fine patterns being superior.

Before understanding what fabrics are digitally printed, it is essential to understand digital printing technology.

Digital Textile Printing Technology

Digital printing is a process of printing on textile and garments using a specialized technique known as ink-based printing. Ink-based printing is a method that involves depositing liquid droplets on a substrate. The method enables printers to print high-quality designs on a range of fabrics.

In the digital fabric printing technique, fabric first needs to be treated, later it will pass through the inkjet printer at high speed. The machine uses printable designs of a digital data file, reads the right color information, and then the machine prints the colors onto the fabric.

The fabric is colored by minuscule droplets of ink which are produced by numerous print heads. Inkjet technology through its innovative technology and special inks known as dye-sublimation or dispersed direct ink, has made it possible to print any complex on fabrics with high-quality directly on fabrics.

Digital Textile Printing Materials

Today a digital printed fabric manufacturer leverages the technology, as many print heads ensure high quality and empower a quick production rate. However, in some cases due to the print heads being close to the fabric, some fabrics cannot be digitally printed. For example, fabrics that have quite some loose threads can come in contact with the print heads, and therefore, this can cause a problem.

This article will brief you about which fabrics can be used for digital printing. Digital textile printing though can be used for both woven and knitted fabrics.

1. Cotton

Cotton is the most known and utilized fabric in the textile industry due to its specialty like moisture control, comfort, and durability. This natural fiber can be used for digital printing. Digital printed cotton fabric can obtain the highest quality fabric using digital printing technology. With the technology implemented for this fabric, you’ll only see superior quality results. When talking about cotton and digital printing, most printers use reactive inks. As such inks, provide noteworthy wash-fastness prints on cotton.

2. Viscose

Like cotton, viscose is also a natural fiber widely used in the fashion industry. Printing digitally on viscose is convenient. As in the case with cotton (natural fiber), you can also notice prominent results on viscose when printing digitally with reactive ink.

3. Silk

Another natural and sought-after fabric, silk is also suitable for digital printing. Digital textile printing on the silk fabric can be done seamlessly, and the results are noticeable. Like cotton and viscose, silk can be printed with reactive ink or also with acid inks (if color gamut is your priority).

4. Polyester

Polyester has become one of the most sought-after fabrics in the fashion industry. However, polyester, the most commonly used ink for printing on polyester disperse ink, does not prominently work well, to be precise, when printing with high-speed printers. The significant problem with this is printer contamination through ink mist.

Due to this reason, printers have shifted to sublimation printing on paper and recently successfully switched to direct digital printing on polyester with sublimation inks. In a nutshell, general sublimation printing on polyester fabric results in somewhat lower fastness than printing with disperse inks. However, the results are sustainable and acceptable. There is no compromise in terms of quality with digital printed polyester fabric.

Printing High-quality designs on a range of fabrics with digital printing

Digital printing of fabric in India empowers you to print any designs digitally on a wide range of fabrics. With the advanced digital printing technology, you can see the noticeable difference in terms of quality and production. There is a reason why digital printing in the textile industry is booming.
